Ooh, don't new albums just make your heart skip a beat? Especially when they come from a long time favorite band who haven't released a new album for three years? (!)
The new record from Morcheeba entitled "Dive Deep" is a perfect example with it's wistful, and soothing laid back grooves. It's been in high rotation around KCRW lately, but this should come as no surprise since the love affair between KCRW and Morcheeba has been a long standing one. The Godfrey Brothers and their ever evolving, ever brilliant cast of characters have inhabited the studios on several occasions not only for Morning Becomes Eclectic, but on Chris Douridas and Tom Schnabel's weekend shows as well. Former Morcheeba leading lady Skye has even released an entire EP of tracks that she recorded during her last visit to KCRW.
We're so happy to have you back Morcheeba, next time please don't go away for so long!

Tom Schnabel walked out of the studio after recording this session and looked like he was on cloud nine. He told me it was just a casual session with a few of the greatest jazz players ever. Sounds pretty good to me!
From Tom:
“Alan Broadbent is one of jazz’ greatest players and arrangers, while Putter Smith has played with everybody from Marlene Dietrich to Thelonious Monk. Together they have radar ears and a taste for fun. It was a pleasurable, casual session which I’m delighted to share with listeners.”
Check it out live at 2pm PST on SUNDAY…it will be archived here after it airs.
