Its official, Ray LaMontagne makes the ladies swoon. The studio filled up with female members of our staff – including me – as he took to the airwaves this morning and sang the lush, heartfelt modern folk songs he is known for. During the interview, Ray told Jason that he never sits down specifically to write songs, mostly he’s just waiting for the songs to come. “I never sit down with my guitar unless there’s a melody knocking,” said Ray. Otherwise, he works on his motorcycles and messes around in the barn in his Maine home waiting for inspiration. Last night, Ray played to a near-sold out crowd at the Hollywood Bowl as part of KCRW’s World Festival – a huge accomplishment for any artist. It was a magical night but, if you missed it, this set should tide you over until he finishes work on a new album this fall/winter.
