KCRW DJ Tom Schnabel filled in for Jason Bentley today, hosting Brazilian jazz singer and Grammy winner Luciana Souza. Luciana won a Grammy award for her work with Herbie Hancock and has been nominated for a Grammy Award three times as best jazz vocalist in 2002, 2003 and 2005. Her new songs explore her feelings about being uprooted from her homeland in the relaxed, conversational delivery that is completely her own.  One of the highlights was “Amulet,” a song given to her by Paul Simon.
