DIGG Founder Kevin Rose is kicking off a new phase in the Guest DJ Project as we go weekly! New sets will now be available every Wednesday AND the program will also be offered as a download and a podcast available via iTunes and other formats. You can see the sets HERE and sign up for the podcast HERE.

Past shows, including interviews with “Hancock” Director Peter Berg, Conan O’Brien, Padma Lakshmi, John Cusack and Danny DeVito, are also available as a podcast.

Kevin Rose, a true technology visionary, shared songs that fuel his late night work hours and the track that was passed around the DIGG offices until the whole staff became fans.

Up next, “American Teen” Director Nanette Burstein reflects on being a part of the “John Hughes generation,” Comic book and “Heroes” artist Tim Sale talks about his code song for finishing a comic, and "24" Actress and Comedian Janeane Garafalo shares songs and stories from her past with humor and sincerity.

The Guest DJ Project invites actors, authors, chefs, athletes, directors, tech entrepreneurs and others to share their musical passions with a KCRW DJ. Guests are asked to choose five songs that have inspired them throughout their life – a herculean task for any music lover. However, our gracious guests have explored the soundtrack to their lives and opened their hearts to share confessional tales about their youth, the ups and downs of their careers, and more. All is revealed through their song choices.

As you've probably have heard by now, KCRW has launched a new series where we  invite an array of cultural icons -- actors, authors, chefs, athletes, directors, tech entrepreneurs -- to share songs that have inspired and moved them with our DJs. The pieces are about 10 minutes long and we are going to post 5 new ones each month here: kcrw.com/guestdjproject.

Our inaugural group includes John Cusack (who started biting on a toothpick in the middle of the interview and was much taller than I expected), Conan O’Brien (he did the interview from New York but the crowd listening here in LA was in stitches throughout the entire thing), Saffron Burrows (who had the hardest time picking which songs to talk about– if she were studying for a college exam, it would have been an all-nighter), Jason Reitman (who insisted on playing songs directly from his iTunes – an interesting sign o’ the times) and the charming Garth Jennings. Garth had just stepped off a plane from the UK and came directly from LAX to our studio. His partner in Hammer & Tongs Nick Goldsmith (look them up, they do amazing things) hung out with us in the studio during the interview. Here is a drawing Garth did while he was chatting.
