The Strokes’ Frontman Julian Casablancas just wrapped up a month-long LA residency in support of his new album, “Phrazes for the Young,” and we’re excited to feature it as part of our Eclectic24 Album Preview series. Eclectic24 will stream the CD in its entirety tonight (Monday) at 8pm PST and it will be available on demand until the end of December.
This is Julian’s debut solo album (following some excellent releases by his bandmates Albert Hammond Jr and Fabrizio Moretti, with his band Little Joy). Casablancas wrote and orchestrated every musical detail on the album, filling it with infectious classic hooks, his distinctive boozy croon, and bouncy-synth swagger. The album is composed of just eight tracks, yet the collection delivers a punch of perfect listening enjoyment.

Eclectic24 will stream Tom Wait’s newest release “Glitter and Doom Live” tonight (Monday) at 8pm PST. It will also be available streaming on demand for the next month. “Glitter and Doom Live” is a collection of the best of the best tracks from Tom Waits' sold out, highly-acclaimed Glitter and Doom tour of the US and Europe in the summer of 2008. The album features all eras of Waits' eclectic glory as he shifts seamlessly through an array of characters and explores his stylistic range -- embracing everything from swampy tribal influences and ominous hymns to gypsy flavored balladsand angular surreal rock.

I was lucky enough to preview this album myself over the weekend and it is not only an edgier departure from Norah’s previous work, but some of the best songs she’s ever written. On this collection, the Grammy award-winning artist embraced the guitar as her main instrument and collaborated with a great mix of musicians, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff.
Hear a full album preview TONIGHT on Eclectic24 at 8pm. If you miss it live, you can hear it streaming over the next two weeks on the Eclectic24 page.

KCRW’s online-only music channel Eclectic24 will stream the soundtrack to the latest film in the “Twilight” series tonight at 8pm PST on Monday, Nov 9. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” OST will also be available streaming ON DEMAND for one week only! You can check it all out here.
The soundtrack includes fantastic new songs from Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Skulls and Bon Iver, among others. Enjoy!
Next week, we preview Norah Jones’ latest “The Fall.”

KCRW’s online music channel Eclectic24 will be featuring a heavy dose of music for Halloween tomorrow so feel free to make it your party soundtrack. Also, our Music Librarian Eric J Lawrence got the party started with his show late Sunday night (midnight to 3a, technically Monday AM)
From Eric:
I’ve been doing a special Halloween edition of my show for over 10 years now, and it’s still lots of fun tracking down both the spooky and the kooky songs for the holiday. They can range from the explicitly creepy (The Essex’s “Cemetery Stomp”) to the seasonally goofy (the late Soupy Sales’ “My Baby’s Got a Crush on Frankenstein”), and from the old school (Louis Armstrong’s “The Skeleton in the Closet”) to the contemporary (The Starlight Mints’ “Coffins ‘R’ Us”). It’s an annual full-on spook-tacular!!!
Hear is in the archives here until the next show airs.

Tonight you can hear ALL of Pink Martini’s new album “Splendor in the Grass” on our all music stream Eclectic24 at 8pm PST. The band is a KCRW favorite and recently came through our studio as well. Check out that live set and tune in tonight

Tonight (Monday) at 8pm PST Eclectic24 will preview the new Kings of Convenience album “Declaration of Dependence” from start to finish. Every Monday we preview a new album and next week (10/26) we will debut the latest from KCRW favorites Pink Martini!

Eclectic24 will stream Air’s brand new album “Love 2” in its entirety TONIGHT (Mon) at 8pm PST. Next week, we bring you the new Flaming Lips double disc!
Love 2 is the fifth studio album from the Parisian duo. It will be available tomorrow on Astralwerks. Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin recorded it at their own Atlas Studio and handle all the album's vocals themselves. I’ve been loving the tracks our DJ’s have been spinning so far – “Sing Sang Sung” and “You Can Tell” -- among others. Look forward to hearing the entire album!

We’ll be previewing the brand new full length release by KCRW favorites Zero 7 at 8pm PST tonight (Monday, 9/28) on Eclectic24, our new online music channel (KCRW music 24/7!). We’ll be streaming “Yeah Ghost” from start to finish. Don’t miss it!
We have a new album streaming EVERY Monday. (hint: coming up soon we’ll have the new double CD by a band that loves confetti, likes to have people dressed in animal costumes on stage with them and whose lead singer walks over the crowd in a huge plastic ball).
Previously we streamed CDs by the super group Monsters of Folk and Joe Henry’s latest.
Stay tuned for more good stuff!
