LA natives Princeton, led by brothers Jesse and Matt Kivel, will drop by the studio to talk about their new album with Chris Douridas. “Cocoon of Love” weaves through the trials and tribulations of young love through a lyrical Baroque pop landscape. Their track “Shout it Out” was a recent Today’s Top Tune selection and the band is about to hit the road on tour with Ra Ra Riot.

Nellie McKay is known for being both extraordinarily talented and, well, rather quirky. The 23-year-old joined Chris Douridas for a set and a chat this past weekend and you can hear it all right here.

Ooh, don't new albums just make your heart skip a beat? Especially when they come from a long time favorite band who haven't released a new album for three years? (!)
The new record from Morcheeba entitled "Dive Deep" is a perfect example with it's wistful, and soothing laid back grooves. It's been in high rotation around KCRW lately, but this should come as no surprise since the love affair between KCRW and Morcheeba has been a long standing one. The Godfrey Brothers and their ever evolving, ever brilliant cast of characters have inhabited the studios on several occasions not only for Morning Becomes Eclectic, but on Chris Douridas and Tom Schnabel's weekend shows as well. Former Morcheeba leading lady Skye has even released an entire EP of tracks that she recorded during her last visit to KCRW.
We're so happy to have you back Morcheeba, next time please don't go away for so long!

Local bands Biirdie and Parson Red Heads will be appearing on MBE this week -- Thursday and Friday, respectively. Some great music coming out of this town right now! Parsons also has the January residency at Spaceland so go and see them tonight if you stayed in all weekend because of the rain.
Oh, Nic is also a fan of a track off Delta Spirit’s new full length – check out the SoCal group’s song “Trashcan.” Also, keep an ear out for Jason Bentley’s remix of the Frou Frou song “Breath In.” Its killer and it will be on the American Teen movie soundtrack (which our own Chris Douridas happened to put together!)

I remember my dad telling me when I was growing up about this group of songwriters in Brooklyn who wrote almost all the hits songs of an era, using one of my favorites – Little Eva’s version of “The Loco-Motion” – as an example. Carole King was, of course, one of those writers and seeing her in the studio today was an incredible experience.
She began the session with the song that really kicked off her writing career, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” which was a hit for The Shirelles. Afterwards, she chatted with Chris about everything that led up to it – not surprisingly, she tells great stories.
Chris threw in a few early demos of songs that became huge hits for others and she talked about how James Taylor was the one who pushed her forward to perform her own songs.
Carole tells Chris she loves working on “assignment” but how a song like “You Got a Friend” just came to her. DEFINITELY tune in for this set – it’s something very special or check out the archived version here after it airs on Saturday at 2pm PST.
