William Orbit Performs Live for the 1st time in the U.S. on MBE

Apparently, William Orbit stayed up all night preparing the music for his MBE set (he says it took him longer than expected and he was behind due to intense workload.) Even after pulling an all-nighter, he did not disappoint. As a producer, William has worked with everyone from Madonna to Beth Orton and someone in the studio today described him as a “classical music genius that got sidetracked by pop music.” He talked in depth with Jason about his creative process, inspirations and how he works with other people. Minimalism seems to be key. He also left us with some gifts – pedals that were used in the making of Blur’s album 13. Jason jokingly said we’d offer them up for a $20 donation to the station and the phones rang off the hook! Saturday night KCRW DJ Liza Richardson dropped by the studio as well and is responsible for William’s timid smiles mid-set. He’s got a lot of fans on staff here.
