Tilly and The Wall Make Their MBE Debut
Tap dancing in the studio! I’ve heard Tilly and the Wall’s
recorded work, but nothing beats seeing them live – three ladies on
platforms, two singing their hearts out (lovely voices) and the other one tap
dancing the beat. I always dreamed of being a go-go dancer on stage with
someone like the B-52’s but this beats it – not only is she dancing,
but she is an integral part of the sound. It’s so cool to watch. And
there was a big surprise treat – a cover of Erasure’s “Respect.”
The synth pop duo’s music topped the charts in the’80’s but
anyone who went clubbing in the 90’s (myself included) knows it well.
They ended the set with “Pot Kettle Black,” which they performed on the debut show of “90210” to a giant audience. In the interview with Nic, they reflected on the Omaha music scene they came from. It seems to have evolved so naturally and created so many fantastic bands – Bright Eyes and the Faint among them.
