M83 Celebrates the Teenage Years on MBE
When M83 launched into the first song in their set today, “Kim & Jessie,” I was swept away into the soundtrack to a John Hughes movie from the ‘80s. The waves of sound brought me right back to the “Breakfast Club” and all the emotions and turmoil of being a teenager at that time. It was a welcome trip and I’m glad Anthony Gonzalez decided to revisit his own teenage years for the appropriately-named “Saturdays=Youth.”
Starting off the interview, Nic jokingly asked Anthony if they have a light show to go with their epic new sound. The artist – joined by Morgan Kibby on vocals and keys, Pierre Marie Maulini on guitar, and Loic Maurin on drums -- tells Nic that he created this tribute because his teenage years were the best of his life, so far. He says there are so many good memories and he’s always been fascinated by that time. “Everything is cool when you are a teenager, there are no problems,” says Anthony.
In addition to spins on MBE, Jason Bentley has a been a huge supporter of this album.
