Longwave on MBE
NYC rockers Longwave have been through a lot as a band, but their fourth CD may be their best effort yet. They made the album almost entirely on their own in guitarist Shannon Ferguson’s studio. As Jason mentioned in the interview, it sounds like there is a “purity of purpose.” It’s the sort of creativity that can only happen when you produce art solely for yourself and not to please others, including record labels. “Secrets Are Sinister” is full of fuzzy guitar rock – there’s feedback, but the prettiness of the music is never lost.
The guys came straight from a gig in San Diego but their early morning weariness didn’t seem to hold them back one bit. Check out the full set, especially “Sirens in the Deep Sea” and “The Devil and the Liar.”
